Grading Requirements
In order to grade
for 3rd Degree Black Belt you must have done the following:
-
Attended the
Referees Course (Parts I and II, after being a
qualified Umpire for at least 6 months)
-
Officiated
at a minimum of 2 T.A.G.B. tournaments per year (at least 1
must be a national tournament)
-
Attended at
least 1 Pre-Grading Training Session/Patterns Course
every 6 months
-
Attended the 2
Pre-Grading Training Sessions immediately prior to the
grading
-
Written an
Essay on why you think you should be promoted to 3rd Dan
-
Have your
application form endorsed by your Instructor and your
Area Coordinator
-
Provided your
Instructor 8 passport sized photos
-
Passed 2
Pre-Pre-Gradings, 1 at Emersons Green and another at
Bristol Academy
-
Passed the
official Pre-Grading at Bristol Academy
-
Have paid
for your grading well in advance

Theory
Patterns:

Eui-Am: is
the pseudonym of Son Byong Hi, leader of the Korean independence
movement on 1st March 1919. The 45 movements relate to his age
when he changed the name of Dong Hak (Oriental Culture) to
Chondo Kyo (Heavenly Way Religion) in 1905. The diagram
represents his indomitable spirit displayed while dedicating
himself to the prosperity of his nation.

moves and begins in Closed Ready Stance D

Choong-Jang:
is the pseudonym given to General Kim Duk Ryang who lived during
the Yi Dynasty, 15th Century. This pattern ends with a left hand
attack to symbolise the tragedy of his death at 27 in prison
before he was able to reach full maturity.

Ko-Dang: is
the pseudonym of the patriot Cho Man Sik who dedicated his life
to the independence movement and education of his people. The 39
movements signify his times of imprisonment and his birthplace
on the 39th parallel.
